Ethics-What is the difference between ethics and morality?

What is the difference between ethics and morality? What does it mean to say that morality has logical priority over ethics? What does it mean to say that ethics is subjective? What does it mean to say that ethics is relative? Please help!

Public Comments

  1. ethics are morals there is no in between
  2. Ethics can be understood as the philosophical study of morality, which is concerned with our beliefs and judgments regarding right and wrong motives, atttitudes, character and conduct
  3. ethics - principle values. How you deal with right and wrong morals - knowing what is right or wrong ethics ARE moral values They are more or less synonyms. The only difference is that ethics involve more complicated aspects set by specific situation ex. a doctor should not divulge is patient's condition with a third party (ethics). Ethics can be ignored, however morals are more established code of behaviors. Committing a crime (say killing) is morally wrong (nothing to do with ethics). --morals should always be applied prior to ethics. Ethics subjective - example: reporters. You have paparazzi who think since they aren't committing a crime, they can basically play with celebrity's lives, whereas an ethical reporter would respect the privacy
